A graduate of Ambrose Alli University has earned global recognition after presenting a research paper at the prestigious World Conference on Research Integrity in Vancouver, Canada.

Dr. Christian Anyiador, of the university’s 2015/2016 College of Medicine set, made history as the first Nigerian student to present at the conference. He is the founder and National President of the National Association of Undergraduate Medical Researchers (NAUMR) and currently a house officer at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

According to a statement issued by the University’s Principal Assistant Registrar/Head, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Otunba Mike Aladenika, Anyiador presented a paper titled “How Mentoring Undergraduate Students by Research Integrity Professionals or Role Models Working in the Global South Institutions Could Promote Research Integrity at National Level: The Nigerian Students' Experience,” for which he received a full conference scholarship. He delivered the presentation on May 4, 2026, sharing Nigeria’s experience with a global audience.

The achievement highlights the growing impact of NAUMR, a student-led research body headquartered at AAU’s College of Medicine and co-founded with Dr. Chiedozie Godian Ike, a lecturer and research integrity advocate.

Dr. Ike has also received global recognition, including a diversity award at the 2024 conference in Athens. The World Conference on Research Integrity is a leading global platform that brings together researchers, policymakers, institutions, and students to promote ethical standards in research and innovation across the world.

The feat was supported by faculty members, including Prof. Akhere Danny Asogun, and the PANDORA-ISTH Research Clinic, reflecting the strong collaboration between AAU and ISTH.

Otunba Mike Aladenika, who noted that the achievement underscores the vast potential of Nigerian students and the importance of sustained investment in research, mentorship, and international collaboration, Commended Prof. Reuben Agbons Eifediyi Chief Medical Director, ISTH and Prof. Samuel Olowo, Provost, College of Medicine for their roles in promoting research and mentorship.

University authorities described the milestone as a testament to AAU’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Eunice Omozejie, the direction of the Governing Council led by Chief Dan Osi Orbih and  the continued support from the Edo State Government led by Senator Monday Okpebholo.
