OUR CHILDREN SIT ON BARE GROUND TO LEARN IN SCHOOL... community leader tells Edo government. 

 Obeidu community  in Esan  North East Local  Government  Area of Edo state has drawn  the attention  of the Speaker  of Edo House of Assembly,  Francis  Okiye to the condition  of  the  only secondary  school in the  locality.
Mr Fred Akhelumele, who led the Obeidu  Progressive Union on a visit to the Speaker said there was no government  presence in the community.
Akhelumele said " since the establishment  of  the secondary  school, the community  has been responsible  for  the maintenance of the school.
"The students sit on the floor because of lack of chairs and desks. The  buildings there are all delapidated. The school  has been  neglected  for a long time,"he said
According  to  him,  we are here to draw your attention and by extention that of the state government to  plight of the community and to appeal for an urgent intervention .
Responding, the Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Francis Okiye sympathised with the community and promised to  liase with the executive to rehabilitate the school.
Okiyie  said" From  the pictures you presented and what I can see in it, the school has been neglected  for a long time  by previous administrations.
"I can tell you that the Obaseki led government is committed  to  repositioning the education sector through  EdoBest and committed to the rehabilitation of all schools in the state.
"Having brought this to my  knowledge,  l assure you  that the community  will in no distant time receive  government  attention,"he said.
The Speaker  urged the community  leaders to maintain the school environment to make it habitable adding that, the pictures they presented  showed that the school environment was untidy.
"From what l can see here, even the community  have neglected  the school. We all have to join hands to ensure that the school in good condition.
According to  the Speaker, l owe you a duty of good representation because the school is in my constituency. (spark News Naija)
