While counsels to parties at the ongoing trial of Omoyele Sowore and Olawale Bakare, we're expectant that the proceedings will take it's full course, little did they know that the Directorate of State Services (DSS) has a different plan.
The"plan" simply put, was to effect a re- arrest of Omoyele Sowore right in the premises of the Federal High court, Abuja which was initially resisted by Lawyers and other friends of SOWORE.
Speaking shortly before his re-arrest, Omoyele Sowore said he was aware that he would be re-arrested. He said "varrious advances we're made for me to change my disposition towards the struggle which I refused". SOWORE then enjoined Nigerans to be resolute in the defense of our Democracy
Meanwhile Nigerians have condemned the manner in which the DSS effcted the re-arrest of Omoyele Sowore within the premises of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Speaking to Newsmen, counsel to SOWORE, Femi Falana(SAN) described the DSS action as a reenactment of military dictatorship.
Falana called on all "Nigerans and the international communities to closely watch the ongoing development" which he said is "capable of jeopardizing the nation's democracy and then take us back to the unacceptable military dictatorship"
Speaking in the same vein, the People's Democratic Party(PDP) has described the arrest of SOWORE in the court as the height of wrong in an uncivilized government.
PDP's National Publicity Secretary, KOLA OLOGBODIYAN says "the action is capable of taking Nigeria back to the dark days of military dictatorship which will be unacceptable to Nigerans."
Prof. Woke Soyinka in a statement on Friday, described SOWORE'S RE-ARREST as a degradation of the judiciary.
" Only yesterday, in my commentary on the ongoing Sowore saga, I pointed out the near-perfect similarity between plain crude thuggery and the current rage of court disobedience. Little did I suspect that the state children of disobedience would aspire to the level of the African wild dog on a pack hunt" Soyinka said.
Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #Revolution Now Movement, along with Olawale Bakare we're arrest and charged for Felony and attempt to overthrown President Mohammadu Buhari. The duo have been detained since August 3rd, 2019.
