There are indications that President Muhammadu Buhari may be set to resolve the lingering crisis in the ruling party(APC) if reports coming out of the Presidency are anything to go by.
A meeting was held between the President, the chairman of the progressive governors form and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi and Adams Oshiomhole on Thursday.
The crisis in the APC got to its head on Wednesday when the Federal High Court sitting in Jabi, the FCT ordered the suspension of the former Edo State Governor as National Chairman of the party. In another twist to to the events, Oshiomhole also got a ruling in the Kano Federal High Court, countering the initial ruling at the FCT High Court, all within twenty-four hours.
Feelers from the Presidency say the issue of injunction and counter injunction will do the party more damage if unchecked imediatelly
President Buhari, who is currently considered as the most influential man in the party as well as the sitting President is set to use his influence to bring the warring parties on the same page as he invited them for talks.
The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, confirmed the meeting in different pictures, stating that the meeting was was held in the State House.
Some stakeholders of the party under the aegis of the Governors’ Mandate Network, had rallied the Chairman of Nigeria’s Governors Forum, Fayemi, to convince his colleagues to immediately find a suitable replacement for Oshiomhole.
Reports say Earl Onaiwu, the Chairman of the group stated that the governors should quickly use the opportunity given by the FCT High Court to replace Oshiomhole as party Chairman.
Oshiomhole has since thinned the possibility of that occurrence by securing a ruling in his favour against the party, while he awaits the fate of his appeal at the Court of Appeal.
