In view of the proliferation of coronavirus to parts of Nigeria, several and different measures are been taken by various state governments to check as well as control the spread of the virus.
Delta State which is yet to record one index case of covid-19 has put in place measures aimed at preventing the virus or any index carrier from entering the state through any point
To this effect, the state governor, Ifeianyi Okowa has directed the closure of all entery points into the state with effect from Sunday morning.
Governor Okowa, in a letter by the Secretary to Delta State Government, Chiedu Ebie, with reference number SGD.387/T5/118 addressed to the Secretary to Edo state government, Bar Osarodion Ogie, said the state intends to shut "all entry and exit points in Delta State by Sunday the 29th day of March, 2020.
Okowa said this became absolutely necessary to curtail the proliferation of covid-19 amongst other Nigerians who are not currently threatened but that as part of precautionary measures, Delta is forced to take the measure thus asking for the understanding of his sister state, Edo.
In his reply to the mail, Edo state Secretary to the State government, Bar. Osarodion Ogie thanked Delta State government for the honor to inform Edo of the intended action.
Ogie said there is no action too little or great to be taken now so as to check the dreaded covid-19 from taking over the country, stressing that Edo state will help to enforce the border closure, an action which he described as very necessary for now.
