The Independent NATIONAL Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it has not taken any decision to postpone the Edo/ONDO governorship elections or adjust the time-table and schedule of activities for the elections which have been scheduled for the 19th of September,2020 and the 10th of October 2020 respectively.
In a statement issued by INEC's National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voters Education Committee, Festus Okoye Esq. dated 27th April 2020, INEC said the time table and schedule of activities it issued for the elections on the 6th of February,2020 is still valid as it has not been adjusted.
INEC which also acknowledged the negative impact of COVID-19 on the Nation and it's citizens said it is also monitoring the efforts of the Federal and state governments, health authorities and other stakeholders to contain the spread of and elimination of the pandemic.
INEC says while the current situation is been studied, the election schedule remains but if and when the need arises to adjust the time table, it will do same accordingly.
