There is seeming tension at the headquarters of Esan South-East local government area of Edo state as the Legislative Arm sacks it's leadership in a rancour free change of guard.
The House leader, Ernest Egwemi was sacked in the process while Umar Ukaki was elected the new leader of the Legislative Arm.
Also impeached is the majority leader, Israel Iyanobor while Anthonia Iyangbe was elected in his place as the new majority leader.
The principal officers were impeached by seven out of the 10 members of the legislative arm.
Ernest Egwemi, Israel Iyanobor and Evans Ogbeiye were accused of gross financial misconduct, anti-party activities among others.
The former principal officers were also accused of being rubber stamp to the administration of the former chairman of the council that was sacked last March by the court.
The impeached former legislative leader, Evans Ogbeiye and Israel Iyanobor were however, suspended from all legislative activities pending the investigation of allegations levelled against.
The house had earlier passed a vote of no confidence on the Ernest Egwemi-led house before the impeachment.
Efforts to get reactions from the impeached legislative leader proved abortive, but a close ally to him described the impeachment as null and void.
According to him, Councillors representing the ten (10) wards of Esan south east local government area, were held hostage at the local government secretariat, Ubiaja.
"The ten councillors from the local government were invited to the Ewohimi residence of the council Chairman, where they were bundled against their will, with Police escorts and thugs to the council secretariat.
"They however, called on the Nigeria police force to come to their rescue whose lives are being threatened by desperate individuals," he said.
