APC CRISIS : END OF THE ROAD FOR NWC?

By Mike ALADENIKA.

Unfolding drama at the national headquarters  of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which has climaxed in a visible struggle for supremacy between the Presidency and the National Working Committee may be a signal to a battle line drawn.

President Mohammadu Buhari had on Wednesday put his weight behind the Victor Giadom acting National Chairmanship of the party with a directive to governors, National Assembly members and other NEC members to attend a NEC meeting to be called by Giadom.

This presidential directive, however, did not go down well with the Abiola Ajimobi led NWC as it reacted sharply against the presidential recognition granted Victor Giadom whom they say, is not a member of the NWC ,having resigned his position at the NWC to contest in his state, thus making his position at the NWC vacant.

These two standpoints in the crisis rocking the APC is a visible battle line drawn. Even when the Ajimobi led NWC had called his members in the NEC not to attend, will that now  make the NEC not to hold? Will the Giadom NEC meeting to be attended by president Buhari form quorum? Will the outcome and resolutions be binding on all, irrespective of percieved  faction? Will Ajimobi's NWC boycott of the NEC meeting lead to the desolution of the NWC? Will a care-taker committee be set up, in the event of the desolution of the NWC?

The next few hours are pregnant for APC, it is bound to provide answers to these questions.
