By Esosa Omorogbe
Academic and Non-teaching staff of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma have been called upon to rededicate themselves to their respective duties, not minding their status and cadres in the organogram of the University.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Sunday Olowo Samuel stated this when he hosted a security personnel attached to the office of the Vice-Chancellor who is proceeding on retirement after a meritorious service to the institution and the nation as a public officer.
Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel said " For as important as the head or CEO of any organisation could be, so also is the cleaner of that same organisation. As long as the CEO will not clean his office by himself, he needs the services of the cleaner. Same goes for the messengers till you get to the pinnacle of the ladder."Mr. Pius Odigie, a security personnel attached to the office of the Vice-Chancellor did proof to me, within the short period he worked in my office upon my assumption of duties as Acting Vice Chancellor, that he is on top of his job.
"A modest, unassuming gentleman in his well ironed dresses is an embodiment of a good and quality professional.
"Do not think that whatever genuine contribution you make towards the advancement of this University today is unnoticed. One day, it will be counted in your favour and you will be so honoured just like we are celebrating Mr. Odigie.
The AAUE's Acting Vice Chancellor further said "the Governing Council as led by Dr.Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen is more determined, ever than before, to reposition our Universty. What is needed from us are simply, dedication and commitment to duties. With our collective efforts the peak is attainable."The welfare of all the workers and students of the university are upper most in the collective minds of the Chairman and members of the Governing Council. We can all attest to the ongoing reorganisation in the University. Promotions are granted already even as efforts are been make towards healing the wounds of the past with the setting up of the Truths and Reconciliation Panel.
"I will give you all the assurances that this University will be great again, this can only happen if we collectively, as a team ,work assiduously to achieve it.In his thank you message at the ceremony, Mr Pius Odigie thanked the Acting Vice Chancellor for the honour done him.
"I don't know how to appreciate you sir, but to pray and continue to pray for you and your household. Little did I know that the little work I do around here is noticed to the extent that it could earn me a reward of this magnitude.Highpoint of the event was the presentation of gift and cash award to Mr Pius Odigie by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Sunday Olowo Samuel.
