Issues and contestations have become part of the on going process of selecting, appointing or electing the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Edo State 2020 gubernatorial Election.
Intrigues of different shape and diversity have enveloped the process with one allegation and counter allegation firing from both ends.
While vibration from the party is fast becoming worrisome to APC members, political watchers, stake holders, and citizens of Edo state, the battle ground seems to have shifted to the court rooms.
The latest, being the case instituted by one Kenneth O. Asekomhe, and Mathew Aigbuhuenze Iduoriyekemwen, an aspirant in the APC primary, at the Federal High Court, Benin.
Delivering its ruling, Justice M.G. Umar "restrained the defendants ( APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and National Working Committee, The Inspector General of Police and The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from taking any action until the 11th of June 2020 the adjourned date for the determination of the case."
The plaintiffs had approached the court "seeking to restrain the defendants, individually or collectively, from proceeding with the direct mode of primary election to select a candidate to fly the APC’s flag in the September gubernatorial election", which the judge granted, having listened to the arguments of counsels to all the parties.
In the same manner, justice Umar also granted that "all applications in the suit as well as all responses of parties would be heard along side the originating summons".
The presiding judge also directed "parties to file their responses accordingly, within two days".
While political watchers are following the vibration in the APC closely, it appears that the last of the political intrigues is yet to be heard or seen.
