EDO 2020 : Re : “Oshiomhole has neither abused his office nor acted with Impunity” . . . CAPTAIN MUHAMMED BALA JIBRIN FIRES BACK.

Just read a statement  titled “Oshiomhole has neither abused his office nor acted with Impunity”, supposedly a response to my position contained in the release I issued on Saturday, 6th June 2020  titled "ABUSE OF OFFICE AND IMPUNITY."

The author attempted to reduce the issues to the current challenges in Edo State and based on that went on to accuse me of being a paid agent of Governor Obaseki.

In his desperation to defend Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, he displayed his ignorance about the APC constitution and even argued that he is ‘not aware that the NWC has to take every decision it makes to the NEC for approval whereas most of the NEC members are also members of NWC”.

I pray and hope that this author is not speaking on behalf of Comrade Oshiomhole, as such a position, if approved by Comrade Oshiomhole will simply amount to gross abuse of office.

The NWC is only an administrative organ to implement decisions of NEC and other superior organs. No where in the APC constitution was there where NWC is given the power of decision making except to implement decisions of NEC and other superior organs.

Having said this, I wish to make two remarks for this author  and his likes:

1.    Our association with President Buhari predate APC. Our support for him is based on his resolute commitment to the fight for justice in Nigeria. At a time when PDP epitomizes brigandage through imposing candidates and rigging elections, we found a leader in President Buhari whose vision for Nigeria’s democratic development is never in doubt.

 As part of that vision, the President always stress the important role of the party and the need to ensure that leaders of his party project an exemplary conduct different from the way PDP is oriented. For some reasons, events in APC since the emergence of Comrade Oshiomhole as National Chairman has moved us far away from the President’s vision of a democratic party and much more closer, if not the same with PDP.

Unfortunately, all these are happening under  the Leadership of 
   Comrade Oshiomhole with a pedigree of democratic struggles and someone who ordinarily should have supported President Buhari to build a truly democratic APC. Instead, the business of APC is now all about ensuring that Edo State election go the way of Comrade Oshiomhole.

2.    Why is Comrade Oshiomhole afraid of convening meetings of NEC and other organs of the party? Why is the NWC usurping the powers of all organs? Why is it impossible to ensure a transparent conduct of something as basic as membership registration? Those of us who have been loyal to President Buhari believe that the inability of the party leadership to work for the development of APC constitute a betrayal and should be immediately corrected. If not corrected, it will continue to distract the President from attending to other important critical governance challenges.

With these two remarks, I stand by earlier position that President Buhari and all our party leaders should intervene to save our party APC from collapse. APC is bigger than Edo election, is bigger than Comrade Adams OSHIOMHOLE.
