EDO INFORMATION COMMISSIONER DESIGNATE VISITS NUJ. . . promises a better working relationship.

Efe Stewart, Edo State Commissioner of information designate  following his appointment, Thursday, awaiting Legislative clearance from the State House of Assembly was at the state Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo state council to formally inform the  NUJ of his appointment.


The Commissioner designate, who himself a journalist, publisher of a local newspaper, and the Public Relations Officer of the Neo- psychiatrist Hospital, Uselu Benin, told journalists that " having accepted the honor to serve Edo State people through Governor Obaseki's administration, courtesy demands I come home to formally inform you by brother's, friends and colleagues of this development".





Hon Efe Stewart said his "appointment and subsequent clearance by the state House of Assembly will cement whatever perceived rough edges that may have existed between the state government and the media".

Responding, the chairman of council, Nigeria Union of Journalists,(NUJ), Edo State, Sir Roland Osakue welcoming the Commissioner designate, said "journalists in Edo state are pleased with the appointment of one of our own as Commissioner in the state Executive Council.

Comrade Osakue informed the newly appointed Commissioner that he "should use his good office to correct whatever negative impression that may have existed between the government and the NUJ. He then promised, on behalf of practicing journalists in Edo state, that the new information Commissioner will enjoy quality support from us all"
