Edo 2020 : OBASEKI FLAGS OFF CAMPAIGNS SATURDAY, JULY 25 . . . . as PDP restricts attendance in line with Covid-19 protocol.

The Edo State Governor and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 19, 2020 governorship election Mr. Godwin Obaseki, will on, Saturday July 25, 2020 flag off his reelection campaign.
In a statement issued in Benin City, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, said the flag off is scheduled to commence by 10am at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, in accordance with the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) guidelines against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
Osagie said the Governor Obaseki-led administration has in the last three years and eight months positioned the state on a growth trajectory, noting that the majority of Edo people are ready to vote for Obaseki and his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu to give them the opportunity to do more.
The governor’s aide noted: “Governor Obaseki has performed excellently, touching all sectors of the state. His campaigns will be showcasing excellent governance and unmatched leadership positives. The governor has given a good account of himself on the back of the massive infrastructure transformation, education, healthcare, judicial and investment reforms, sustained efforts to evolve an industrial economy and a searing commitment to improving the wellbeing of Edo people.
"His popularity is unrivalled; we are accepted by our people from the villages to the urban centres. The acceptance is resounding and deafening and come September 19, 2020 the governor will be reelected for a second term in office to consolidate on his people-oriented projects and reforms.”
Meanwhile, Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Campaign Council for the 2020 Governorship Election has limited the number of members and supporters expected at the flag-off ceremony, in strict compliance with the coronavirus (COVID-19) directives issued by the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for public gatherings.
The campaign flag-off which is slated for Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City according to a statement by the party's Publicity Secretary, Chris Osa Nehikhare, on behalf of the Edo PDP Campaign Council, "the Party's governorship candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, will also move round the respective wards in the nooks and crannies of Edo State to acknowledge the support of the people, also with full adherence to COVID-19 regulations.
The statement reads in parts "The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will on Saturday flag off campaign for the September 19 Edo State Governorship election with strict compliance with coronavirus (COVID-19) directives issued by the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for public gatherings.
"In that regard, the Edo PDP Campaign Council for the 2020 Governorship Election has limited the number of members and supporters expected at the flag-off ceremony, slated to hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, to check overcrowding.
"Furthermore, our governorship candidate, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his running mate, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, will also move round the respective wards in the nooks and crannies of Edo State to acknowledge the support of the people, also with full adherence to COVID-19 regulations."
The PDP added: "The Edo PDP Campaign Council deeply appreciates the excitement and enthusiasm of our teeming members and supporters to grace the campaign flag-off, but noted that the restriction is in the best interest of the people."
The Campaign Council thanked the people of Edo State for their massive support and urged them to remain vigilant as they coast to victory with Governor Obaseki and the PDP, come September 19.
