EXCLUSIVE :- EDO 2020 ; VOTING WILL BE FOR SIX HOURS IN ACCORDANCE WITH NCDC PROTOCOL ON COVID-19 . . . I N E C

All is set for the conduct of the September 19,2020 Governorship Election in Edo State. According to the Edo State (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner,Dr Johnson Alalibo, "the election scheduled for September 19th, 2020 will hold as scheduled barring any unforeseen circumstances".
Dr Alalibo who disclosed the readiness of the Commission for the conduct of the election,in Benin City at a meeting with Chairmen of Political parties participating in the election said "the proper voting in the election will start by 8.30 in the morning and end at 2.30 in the afternoon", a period of six hours for voting.
The Edo State REC also said "all the processes for the conduct will and must be in conformity with the Nationally accepted protocol for Covid-19", stressing that water for washing hands will be provided at all inec accredited voting centers while Political parties are to ensure that their supporters wear face masks without Party colour and logos,as well as provide them with hand sernitizers where necessary".
Dr Alalibo who assured that there will be more of these interactive sessions with stakeholders before the election said "social distance policy of the NCDC will be enfoced on Election day", he however assured that "aged voters, physically challenged, and pregnant women will enjoy prime attention of first to vote" on Election day"
The INEC'S REC for Edo State however "frowned at the campaign attitude and strategy adopted by political parties which did not respect the NCDC protocol on gathering, social distancing and face masking", stressing that "COVID-19 is real and kills".
