The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is training financial Secretaries of the Political parties on Campaign Financial Reporting ahead of the September 19, 2020 Governorship Election in Edo State.
Declaring the training open,in Benin City, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC EDO STATE, Dr. JOHNSON ALABO said "Political parties must adhere to the rules by doing the needful expected of them by the extant laws for elections, Campaigns, and accountability of the process."
Dr. Alabo challenged Political parties to maintain a high level of civility in the campaigns as well as engage in issue based discuss towards a peaceful, free and fair Election."
The Edo State REC assured Nigerians and Edo State people that the Commission will conduct the GOVERNORSHIP Election in the state devoid of violence and would be fair to all in the face of the law there by calling on all participating Political parties to beware of applicable extant laws for the conduct of the election".
In it's Goodwill message,the Country Director, International Foundation For Electoral System (IFES) represented by it's Project Manager, Simon Fanto, said IFES had, for many years, partnered with INEC to train political party officials on Financial and sundry matters".
Participants at the training were drawn from the political parties participating in the September 19 Edo State Governorship Election.
