Benin City, Edo state capital was, Monday, taken by storm as citizens and residents of the metropolis joined the PDP Campaign Council and other supporters to celebrate the victory of the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin OBASEKI.
In a motorcade of scores of varieties of vehicles and thousands on foot, the celebration took off from the sit of government, with governor Godwin OBASEKI, his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, the South- South National Vice Chairman of PDP, Chief Dan Osi Orbih leading other party chieftains and supporters on the "Thank you my people rally".
The motorcade which went round the city center however cause a serious traffic hold-up which ordinarily may have angered motorists and commuters but on this occasion, some motorists and commuters abandoned their vehicles to join movement chanting " TORGBA" meaning, in Benin language, that the eight years, two tenures of G.O as the governor is popularly called must complete"
SPARKNEWSNAIJA's chat with some of the participants reveals that "Governor Godwin OBASEKI has emerged as a new movement and face of good governance which Edo People will celebrate till years to come".
The respondents "commended INEC, the Security Agencies, President MOHAMMADU BUHARI for allowing the people's votes and voice to count, thus making the Edo Governorship Election the most free and fair Election ever conducted in the state"
