No fewer than five people were reportedly killed in Benin City in what residents say is one of the most severe in recent time since the combined team of the Nigerian Army and Officers of Edo state command of the Nigeria police stepped in to curtail the level of violence in the state capital.
Reports reaching SPARKNEWSNAIJA news desk say
four arm boys stormed Marvin Energy filling station, formally Ages filling station area of wire road where a middle aged man popularly called Elder was killed at about 6.30, Tuesday morning.
In the same manner, another group of suspected cult members stormed the same wire road area of Benin City with arms, accessed an hairdressing salon popularly known as Radiance Salon and killed the ceo of radiance saloon popularly called Nosa at about 2:25 pm.
Eye witness account say, Nosa was working on the hair of a customer with some of his "apprentices around him when two guys entered the salon and asked after another male apprentice whom Nosa said was not around but the two visitors show him guns with a view to threaten him to produce the male apprentice which he could not."
The eyewitness say "Nosa had to pay with his life for his inability to produce the male apprentice they came for."
In a related development a suspected cultist was killed by another gun carrying hoodlums suspected to be cultists at Olotun junction opposite mobile filling station by siluko road, at about 6.30 pm.
Two other persons were reportedly killed at second ihogbe area of Benin City between the hours of 4:30-5:30 pm by a suspected armed cult group.
All efforts by SPARKNEWSNAIJA to secure clarification from the police failed as calls to the police authority were neither answered or returned but our further investigations show that the cult clash may have been between members of the Eiye and Aiye groups.
