The Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) Worldwide has called on the state governor, Mr Godwin OBASEKI and all relevant authorities to, as a matter of urgency, step into the lingering dispute between the tipper drivers association and the Ohen of Okhuoromi Village in Oredo Local Government Area of the State over porported land ownership.
Benin Solidarity Movement BSM Worldwide "is calling on the Edo State Government to do the needful by taking appropriate steps or legal action against the Ohen of Okhuoromi Village and the Chairman of the tipper drivers association for their line of actions in denying developers in some parts of Edo State people their services in this critical period."
According to BSM, the story being peddled around is that "as a result of personal/association land dispute pitching the Ohen (spiritual leader) of Okhuoromi against some tipper drivers, which has led to the resolved by the tipper drivers to stop making supply trips to get the sand and granites needed by construction firms, builders, estate developers/firms etc thereby putting all activities in the real estate section on hold."
It's said that the ongoing faceoff has been on for a couple of weeks and that all efforts to make both parties shift ground proved abortive.
BSM is "saying it loud and clear that this kind of action is tantamount to economic sabotage and should not be left unattended to by the Edo State Government."
According to a statement issued by Elder Curtis Eghosa Ugbo
President, Benin Solidarity Movement (BSM) in Benin City "Nobody is above the law moreso now that there has been a big wedge placed on the activities of Community Development Associations (CDA) by the Omo N'Oba N'Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare11 N'Ogidigan and also the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki."
"If it is true that the Ohen has virtually constituted himself into a law he should also be so disciplined as no man can lay claim to actions that are against the genuine wishes of the Government and the Revered Benin Monarch, Omo N'Oba N'Edo."
