Bandits have invaded the permanent site of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna.
Monitored agency reports say "the bandits who stormed the site in the early hours Tuesday killed two officers and injoured one.
"The bandits who came in a vehicle were said to have passed through the security gate into the academy, disguised in military uniforms, after which they proceeded to the officers’ quarters.
In a statement, the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Major Bashir Muhd Jajira said the security architecture of the Academy was compromised early Tuesday morning by gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka.
Jajira said during the unfortunate incident, the Academy lost two officers and one was abducted.
He added that the Academy, in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command as well as other security agencies in Kaduna state, had since commenced pursuit of the gunmen within the general area with a view to tracking them and rescuing the abducted officer.
"The sound of the gunfire, however, alerted the troops of the NDA Quick Response Team, who arrived at the scene, but were unable to rescue the kidnapped officer as the bandits were already gone with the victim.
SPARKNEWSNAIJA confirms that "the casualties include one Officer; Major Datong was kidnapped while Lt Cdr Wulah and Flt Lt CM Okoronkwo were shot dead. Meanwhile, a 2nd Lt Onah sustained a gunshot injury and is currently receiving treatment.
