Edo State government on Tuesday said the state has recorded four new deaths from the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic, 3 out of which were unvaccinated even as the fourth one was partially vaccinated.
The state Covid-19 Case management leader, Dr Osagie Ebonmwonyi disclosed this after the daily virtual meeting of the State COVID-19 Taskforce, chaired by the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
Dr. Ebonmwonyi urged residents to embrace Covid-19 Vaccination to reduce the rise in the number of infections and deaths in the state.
He added that deaths arising from the pandemic are mostly preventable if the people had gone for vaccination, obey NCDC guidelines and safety protocols.
Ebonmwonyi said Edo State Government has intensified the vaccination of it's citizens across the state’s 18 local government areas with the provision of mobile medical teams who move around to ensure vaccination of all.
He called on all residents to be vaccinated to stay alive and healthy noting that more unvaccinated persons continue to die from the virus.
"Edo state has witnessed in the past 24 hours 4 new deaths, 3 new recoveries and discharge with 14 news cases detected.
"3 out of the 4 deaths were unvaccinated, while 1 was partially vaccinated.
"Deaths from Covid-19 are mostly preventable if we get vaccinated. We have a lot of Mobile teams who move around to ensure vaccination of all. ", he said.
