EDO APC CONGRESS : COL. IMUSE EMERGES AS INEGBENIKI CONGRATULATES NEW PARTY LEADERSHIP.

What may have appeared to tension soaked state congress for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State eventually went peaceful as the consensus pattern was adopted in the conduct of the congress, Saturday, which threw up a new set of party leadership to administer the party for the next four years. 

The Congress saw Col. David Imuse (rtd) returned as the substantive Edo State Chairman,
Mr. Jarret Tenebe – Deputy State Chairman, Mr. Lawrence Okah – State Secretary, Chief (Dr) Francis Inegbeniki was elected  Edo Central Senatorial Vice Chairman/Edo Central Senatorial Leader, while Mrs. Betty Okoebor will serve as State Woman leader, Comrade Tony Kabaka emerged as State Youth Leader, Hon. Fidelis Ogbejiele – State Financial Secretary, Mrs. Josephine Ibhaguezejele – Senatorial Woman Leader, among others.

Sequel to the conduct of the Congress in Edo state, the consensus policy adopted by the party had generated tension as chief Inegbeneki was varriously reported to have kicked against the consensus policy which almost drew the party to the brim of having a parallel Congresses but for the intervention of the former National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) Gov.Mai Mala Buni among other leaders at a meeting which, reportedly lasted over eighteen hours. 

Although majority of Journalists who would have covered the congress proceedings were bared from the venue but reports have it that the Congress was eventually peaceful and acceptable to all interests. 

Meanwhile, the top contender for the state championship position and now the newly elected Edo Central Senatorial Vice Chairman/Edo Central Senatorial Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief (Dr) Francis Inegbeniki has sent a  congratulatory message to  Dr. Imuse David, the reelected Edo State Chairman of All Progressives Congress party (APC).

In a press statement issued and personally signed and made available to Newsmen in Benin City,
 Chief Inegbeniki  appealed to all "our teeming members to give the new chairman elect, Col. David Imuse (Rtd), and other members of the State Executives  the required and much needed support to lead the party to it’s political zenith."

According to Chief Inegbeniki,  “With utmost humility, I wish to express my profound gratitude and salutation to everyone that supported my aspiration for the state chairmanship of our great party, APC, in Edo state.

“My desire to contest, was in pursuance of a patriotic eagerness to reposition, rebuild and rebrand our party, to enable it discharge adequately, it’s political obligation to Edo people, as the leading opposition party in our dear state.

“Howbeit, after hours of intensive meeting with the critical stakeholders of our party, it was agreed, that, for the interest and cohesion of the party, the incumbent chairman, Col David Imuse, should be supported to pilot  the affairs of the party, whilst, I drop my aspiration.

“Be that as it may, as a loyal party man, who want the best for the party, I was constrained to drop my aspiration, with the assurance that, our party will be rejigged, reinforced and re- equiped  to fulfill it’s political responsibility to the people of Edo state.

“In view of the foregoing, I meekly appeal to all our teeming members, to give Edo state APC chairman elect, Col David Imuse (RtD), and members of the State Executives, the required support to lead our party to it’s political zenith.
