Dr Akinwunmi Adesina is coming with the panacea, which not only brings the nation’s temperature down, cut down significantly our over bloated Defence Budget and secure the nation. What we need is
Good governance
Fairness
Justice
Equity
Social cohesion
Uplifting the people and unting the Nation.
No nation can be secure with guns booming, jets straffing overhead and nations in tatters and in a perennial war. We have been running a war budget. Little have we stopped to understand why our external borrowings never stops and our “ways and means” takes from the CBN has made the Federal Government overdrawn on its CBN Account. Dr. Adesina stops all that – with a peace and concilliatory approach. A new Nigeria is possible; run differently from all the mad hatter approach of the last 10 – 11 years.
CHARACTER
Who can point to one flaw, even a secret flaw that has been imputed or attributed to the leadership years of Dr. Akinwunmi’s Adesina? Skills are good. Qualifications are good. But can anyone best lead without self is the example? Character is what Dr. Adesina has. His is beyond the touted – integrity. This is the quality we sorely need now in our post Buhari years. Act, Talk, Direct and Lead with character of trust, integrity, sanity, farness trustworthiness and dependability. This is what Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina brings to the table.
SKILL
Who wants to know more – more of him Dr Adesina than we have seen in his public life? He comes with competences honed from years of education, training, advising, consulting and leading at the highest levels in the Agriculture Ministry in the Jonathan years; years, the Agriculture Ministry was adjudged the most innovative in all of Nigeria Agricultural years, years when the focus was turning Agriculture to becoming all embracing, for food security, food with added values and processing and Agriculture as Business.
Today we talk of the Anchor Borrowers Scheme of the CBN. The vision and template began in the Akinwunmi Adesina years in the Agriculture Ministry.
WEALTH CREATION
This is what the man’s years at the AFDB was focused on – all over Africa. A project and vision he commenced in Nigeria while serving as a Minister. There is an urgency to convert the middle class, the young entrepreneurs and the freshly graduated youths, into wealth creators.
We have paid lip service to how an economy grows, expands and engages a burgeoning population. Dr. Adesina is in a hurry to expand the potentials of Nigeria’s economy by getting the willing, the enthusiastic population to increase the wealth size of Nigeria.
A N31 trillion annual Nigerian budget is not sufficient for the 200 million plus population of ours. We are boxing below our belt capacity. The world is waiting. Africa is waiting anxiously.
We have been consumers for too long, import dependent for too long. Been insular and not expansive in our share of global trade and global economy. We need a leader who takes off our feeding bottle mentality, and frontally leads us to create the wealth that not only serves us, but all of Africa, and indeed the world!
FINALE
On all parameters, measured on all metrices, none best fits the bill for the moment than a man who has spent years, quietly preparing for a time in the life of our nation like this. In Leadership studies, we talk of situational leadership and charismatic leadership. It is time like this that we need a perfect fit in our troubled and challenging situation. The situation and times fit Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, perfectly.
Let us all endorse him – And let the stars above Nigeria, spangle and shine more brightly with a candidate Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, who eventually leads us in 2023 and beyond, to our exceptional Destiny.!!
