2023 PRESIDENCY : ADAMU TAKES THE JOKE TOO FAR . . . Gov. Akeredolu

By Mike ALADENIKA.

Ondo state governor and Chairman, Southern Governors' Forum Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) has condemned, in totality, the statement purportedly credited to the National chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Senator Abdullahi ADAMU, to the effect of chosing the Senate Presided, Ahmed Lawal as the consensus candidate for the party for the 2023 general elections.

Governor Akeredolu who, in a.statement, said "this alleged pronouncement runs contrary to the position of majority of Northern Governors in APC and their counterparts in the south.

"Our aggrement is unanimous on this issue. The office of the president should be contested for by qualified persons from the southern part of the country, if the move to get a consensus Candidate fails. There has been no shift from the settled.

The southern Governors Forum however warned that " let it be known that the chairman or anyone who holds contrary opinion does so at a personnel level. He is at best embarking on a frolic which reasonable people would consider dangerous".

Meanwhile, the APC National chairman, Senator Abdullahi ADAMU had on Monday announced the Senate Presided Ahmed Lawal as the consensus candidate for the party and invariably that of the president.

The action attracted genuine criticism from well meaning stakeholders.

As the party warms up for it's delegates conference, schedule for Abuja, more intrigues may come up in the course of the conference.
