Ahead of the 2023 general election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency, in Edo state, Chief Billy Osawaru, has redoubled his assurance of bringing unparalleled development to his constituency when elected as a legislator to represent Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde at the National assembly.
Chief Billy Osawaru, who is also the obazunhunwa of Benin kingdom stated this at a media interaction with Journalists in benin city said "most of our constituncies have suffered gross underdevelopment in recent past because of the attitudes of elected representatives or officials who have always considered self above the people".
He said “My vision is to make my constituency the biggest champion of socio-political, economic, infrastructural and technological development and hub in Nigeria.
“For a long time now, the issues that affect us as people have not been fully addressed. I promise to give every Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde people a voice and strengthen the socio – economy of all communities in Local Government Areas through quality representation.
“We must correct all these things and genuinely use our oversight functions as one of those things to be taken seriously. We have to learn how to build relationships. I am not going there with a gun or knife to start fighting with the executive. There are areas I need to build relationship. Yes, I know there are MDGs, there are agencies, there are ministries responsible for difference type of developmental projects. I need to go build relationship with those people.
"I know what my people need, for rural electrification, I need to approach the ministry in charge, build relationship, let them see why they need to come to help us fix things, because that is the priority. The same thing with water, same thing with roads, I know if I build relationship with these people, they will definitely come to our aid, and that is part of what they call the constituency project.
“My constituency project is not the one to buy more fancy cars, not to build more big houses. Constituency project, to the best of my knowledge, is for the people, and it must be for the people.
"if I give my people good roads, I will enjoy the good roads with them, if I give them clean water, I won’t be scared to drink water in my own village. So, those are things we must change.
Chief Billy Osawaru then called on the people in Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde to invest in him so that " we can jointly liberate our people from the shackles of poverty and under development.
