The news making the round that the Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong denounced his faith as a Christian to fat-flesh the Muslem-Muslim presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress(APC) is nothing but a ruse and false information, concorted by those who intended to score undeserving cheap political goals.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with SPARKNEWSNAIJA, Senator Domingo Obende said "the statement erroneously credited to the Director-General, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Organisation is false in it's totality."
Senator Domingo said "Governor Lalong is proudly a Christian, with relationship with Muslims and people of other faith. He was elected as a governor of Plateau State by Nigerians of all faiths, and has been working in the spirit of fairness to all Nigerian and non-nigerians resident in his state"
"Contrary to what is been circulated now, what Governor Lalong said was simply 'I said I was brought up by the Catholic mission and a Papal Knight Awardee, KSGG. I was voted to take care of not only Christians but also Muslims and even unbelievers.”
Senator Domingo Obende said "I had opportunities, at various times, to have worked with this extraordinary gentleman, who keeps professing his belief and Christian faith. He has shown to all that cares to know, by his words and actions that his Christian faith can not be compromised for whatever reason."
While enjoining Nigerians to disregard whatever news trending about Governor Lalong denying his Christian faith, Senator Domingo Obende urged "journalists and online operators to always fact check their stories before publication as this would help Nigeria to get things right as we progress to build a better Nigeria of today and tomorrow."
