QUEEN ELIZABETH II : EDO MONARCH CONDOLES KING CHARLES III, PRAYS FOR PEACEFUL REIGN.

The Olokpe of Okpe Kingdom, in Akoko-Edo Local Government area of Edo State, South-South Nigeria, His Royal Highness, OBA OKHISHIMEDE ESHIMOKHAI IDOGU III(OON) has conveyed his condolences to the British Monarch, KING CHARLES III on the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.


In a condolence letter personally signed by the Olokpe of Okpe Kingdom, copy of which was made available to SPARKNEWSNAIJA in Benin -City,  Oba Idogu III observed that "the reign of Queen Elizabeth II was peaceful and brought progress and worthy legacies to the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth".
While informing  the new British Monarch of the long cordial relationship that exists between Buckingham Palace and the Okpe Royal Family, Oba Idogu III stated that “it would be recalled that my late father, His Royal Highness, Oba Patrick Eshimokhai Idogu II (MBE), the Olokpe of Okpe, following an official invitation by the Earl Marshal, was personally at Westminster Abbey to witness the Coronation of Her Majesty on the 2nd of June, 1953.”

The Edo State traditional ruler added that "my late father was conferred  with the royal honour of Member of the British Empire (MBE), by Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, together with the then Ooni of Ife, His Royal Highness Oba Adesoji Aderemi, both of whom were specially selected to represent the old Western Region of Nigeria at the Coronation in 1953."
He expressed the hearty congratulations and goodwill of the Royal Family and People of Okpe Kingdom to King Charles III on his ascension to the throne of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, stating that he had “implicit confidence in your ability to steer the affairs of the kingdom, following the well-established tradition of your people”.

The Olokpe of Okpe Kingdom assured King Charles III of "the sustenance of the robust relationship between Buckingham Palace and my kingdom, even as I pray God to imbue the British Monarch with wisdom, strength and good health of mind and body to carry out his onerous responsibilities."
