EDO LAND GRABBING : Committee Orders Immediate Arrest, Detention of Top Benin Chief

By Mike ALADENIKA

The State Chairman, Edo State Private Property Protection Committee, (PPPC), Justice Alero Edodo-Eruaga (Rtd) has ordered the immediate arrest and detention of the Enogie of Utesi, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, His Royal Highness Napoleon Osazuwa.

The order became necessary, as, according to Justice Alero Edodo-Eruaga (Rtd) the Enogie of Utesi was said to have failed, severally, to honour invitations extended to him to  appear before the Committee in relations to pending land matters that concerns him.

In a related development, Justice Alero Edodo-Eruaga (Rtd) has re-emphasized that when community approval papers are given to prospective land buyers, it is expected that a parcel of land should have been earmarked for the said approval, and appropriate records kept.

The Chairman of Edo State Private Property Protection Committee, (PPPC), made this clarification in her remark while presiding over the case of one Solomon Omogiate vs David Ehiarimwan and Youths of Evbuarhue Community which has been  pending before the Committee, which  was later adjourned for further hearing.

Similarly, the Committee Chairman has urged Edo Communities to always embraces dialogue as a panacea to resolving family land disputes.

She gave this advice while resolving the case of one Lewis Iregor vs Matthew Fada and others pending before the Committee.
