The National Population Commission (NPC), Edo State office, has called on all Edo state citizens and other Nigerians resident in the state to avail themselves the opportunity that the census 2023 will provide to be counted as the project promises to be accurate and important for policy formulation in Nigeria.
Addressing Benin-City residents during a road sensitization show organised by the Benin office to enlighten citizens on the need to be part of the census project, Head, Benin office of the National Population Commission(NPC) Ayodele Okiei said Edo people count and as such should make themselves available to be counted.
Mr Ayodele Okiei said "the benin office is poised to get the best out of the project as we will not leave any stone unturned in our quest to achieve one hundred percent compliance and citizens involvement in the headcount project. Stressing that Edo residents should take active part in the exercise, as the Commission would use technology to drive it."
In a telephone interview with SPARKNEWSNAIJA, the NPC Federal Commissioner representing Edo state, Dr. Tony Aiyejina, said the road sensitization show organized by the Benin office is an attestation to the fact that the commission is fully set to conduct the census.
Dr Aiyejina enjoined Edo people and Nigerians to support and be part of the headcount as the result will influence national policies and enable the government to plan for our collective future.
The road sensitization show undertaken by all the principal officers and staff of the NPC Benin office saw participants sharing posters, handbills, leaflets and other materials to citizens on major streets in Benin.
