As the Edo office of the National Populations Commission(NPC) headed by the Federal Commissioner representing Edo state, Dr. Tony Aiyejina continued its state-wide sensitization program aimed at enlightening citizens, most especially indigenes and residents of Edo state to avail themselves the available opportunity to be counted.
The Federal commissioner representing Edo State, Dr Tony Aiyejina took the sensitization project to the engine room of Edo state government where the NPC team met with the Secretary to the state government, Bar. Osarodion Ogie and the Heads of the 18 local government councils.
Addressing the Edo state SSG, Dr Aiyejina said "NPC's commitment to conducting and delivering a credible census is sacrosanct, stressing that the 2023 census will be technology based and very accurate."
The Federal Commissioner said "NPC is currently recruiting Adhoc staff that will conduct the census from the various states stressing that these Adhoc staffs will supretend over the conduct of the census in Edo state". He therefore enjoined the state government to "support the state office of NPC as well as encourage our citizens to register for the online adhoc employment".
Responding, the secretary to Edo state government, Osarodion Ogie said census and its importance globally can not be over emphasized as its result will influence government policies at various levels.
Bar. Osarodion Ogie then assured the NPC federal commissioner that Edo state government would do everything within its capacity to support the census project.
Similarly, the NPC federal commissioner, Dr. Tony Aiyejina was at the Benin Zonal office of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in continuation of the Census Sensitisation tour where he met with the Benin zonal Director.
Dr. Aiyejina informed the zonal director (NTA) that NPC and NTA are both agencies of the federal government with mandates to deliver government's policies. Dr. Aiyejina enjoined the NTA management to support the ongoing online Adhoc staff recruitment and other projects of the commission.
