Comrade Julius Iredia Adun has been elected the chairman of zone one, Ekhenwan sawmillers association, Benin city at a keenly contested election, Friday in benin city.
While declaring the result of the election, the chairman, Electoral commission who had conducted the state election recently, Bishop Sunday Ogbomo said there were 28 delegates at the election, stressing that comrade Julius Adun scored a total of 19 votes while his main opposing contender, comrade Gbami Godspower scored 9 votes, thus giving the victory to comrade Adun.
Bishop Sunday Ogbomo said the conduct of the election was very free and fair as all delegates conducted themselves in a peaceful manner.
In his acceptance speech after the inauguration of the newly elected executive committee, the new chairman zone 1, Saw millers Association, Comrade Julius Iredia Adun said "my first assignment is to unite the members of the association in my zone and make them work in line with our leadership at the state level".
"There are so many issues affecting our business in the zone because of the peculiar and strategic location we have found ourselves. Such issues like double taxation, intimidation, harrasment and the lack of harmonious environment to do our sawmilling businesses. My administration will, teaming up with our state leadership, correct these anomalies, so that our members will have enabling environment to do their businesses."
