Olokpe of Okpe Honours Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority Boss. . . promises to build Golf Course to boost community development.

 The Olokpe of Okpe, His Royal Highness  Oba Eshimokhai Idogun lll has confered one of the highest chieftaincy recognition on the Managing Director of Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORDA),
Mr. Saliu Ahmed. 

Oba Eshimokhai Idogun lll who honoured the Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORDA) boss with the tittle Odufade of Okpe kingdom along with two others while celebrating his 35 years on the throne said Saliu Ahmed has been a pillar of support to Okpe kingdom


The Olokpe of Okpe Kingdom, in Akoko-Edo Local Government area of Edo state said the Benin Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORDA) boss   "deserves the conferment in view of his contributions to the development of the community."

The monarch noted that "the recipient had as part of his contribution to the development of the community established an integrated farm,  modelled after the Songhai integrated farms in Port Novo , Benin republic, which had removed youths in the community from the streets, as well as provided them the opportunity to farm for money as well as to be self engaged in farm business"

Responding, Mr. Saliu Ahmed thanked the Olokpe of Okpe in council to have found him qualified enough for the chieftaincy given him stressing that this honor would challenge and spore me on as well as encourage me to do more for our people".
Mr. Saliu Ahmed said "I will, in the next visible opportunity build a golf course in okpe kingdom, which will help to develop sporting activities, open up the community, and also engage our youths in more viable projects as jobs would be created for them here too. 

The ceremony had in attendance dignitaries including representatives of the Minister of State for Finance, Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba who  in a tribute to the recipient said the conferment was a testimony and rewards for hard work, outstanding performance in touching the lives of thee people Otaru of Auchi kingdom, HRH Alhaji Haliru Momoh, as well as Mr  Lawrence Okah, Secretary of the Edo Chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
