The National Population Commission (NPC), Monday, held the Phase 2 CAPI facilitator training across the country.
Addressing the session in Benin City, the Honorable Federal Commissioner representing Edo state on the board of the commission, Dr. Tony Aiyejina said "the training is underscored by the fact that the 2023 Population and Housing Census(PHC) is a digital census.
"The commission, as a matter of deliberate policy has decided that all stages and process of the census will be conducted, using digital platforms, appliances and devices, among which is CAPI"
According to the Dr. Tony Aiyejina "the Chairman of the commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra is set to lead NPC to conduct the first digital census in Nigeria that is credible and meets international standards, coupled with his determination to empower the workforce of the commission to be grounded in the use of digital platforms for the conduct of the 2023 census.
"This is why the chairman is genuinely committed to training and retraining of the commission's workforce to the extent that you all are expected to master the workings and operational modalities of the technology based process.
" You are, by this training and other trainings expected to train others, most especially the adhoc and other hands that would participate in the conduct of the census.
The Honourable Federal Commissioner then admonished all participants to take this training very seriously, "because you will be the one that will train other field functionaries for the census.
Participants at the CAPI training session were drawn from all the local government areas of Edo state
