COUNTDOWN TO CENSUS 2023 : Edo Office Assembles State Publicity Committee Ahead Innauguration.

Ahead of the forthcoming census, the Benin office of the National Population Commission, NPC, has assembled a powerful state publicity committee made up of relevant institutions and personalities with a mandate to help take the gospel of the census to the people of the state for better understanding and encouraged participation.

According to the Federal Commissioner representing Edo state at the National Population commission, NPC, Dr Tony Aiyejina, the State Publicity Committee, to be Chaired by Edo State  Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Phillip Shaibu while the  Federal Commissioner, National Population Commission, Edo State, Dr Tony Aiyejina will Co- Chair the committee.

Dr. Tony Aiyejina who was represented by the State Director NPC, Ayodele Okiei said the main state publicity committee which  will be innaugurated by the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has  the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Edo State House of Assembly,

 General Managers of  Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), Nigerian Observer and Radio Nigeria, Benin.

Others are Representative of His Royal Majesty, The Oba of Benin,

Chairman, NUJ Edo State council, State Director National Orientation Agency(NOA), Chairperson National Council of Women Society, Edo State,Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Chairman Council of Ulamas, Representative of State Chapter of NULGE, President of Edo State Chapter of NANS, Chairperson, Market Women Association, Federal Ministry of Information,

Federal Information Officer, State Director NPC, and selected Media Personalities, while the HOD, Public Afffais NPC will serve as the  Secretary.

While briefing the assembly, Dr. Aiyejina said the state publicity committee will have, among other assignments, to take the message of the census to the nook and cranny of Edo state, encourage Nigerians to partake In the census. 

He said the 2023 census is a digital project that will capture everyone, irrespective of one's religious, political and tribal affiliations.
