By Mike Aladenika

Ahead of the 2023 National Population and Housing Census, the anagement of the National Population Commission(NPC) has described as outright falsehood, the news making the rounds of possible hacking into the commission's server.

NPC in a statement signed by its Director, Public Affairs, Dr Isiaka Yahaya, dated 24th April 2023, said "Our attention has been drawn to misleading and false information made by an uninformed staff of the commission and controller of Changicha LGA, in Niger State, Mr Sanusi Maigida, on the hacking of the NPC server, sighting this development as the reason for the postponement of the LGA-Level training of Aupervisors and Enumerators for the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

" The statement made by Mr Sanusi Maigida is totally false and does not represent the true position of things as regards the commission's server and the reason for the postponement of the  LGA-level training of the funtionaries.

Dr Isiaka Yahaya, said the staff in question "acted without directive and authorization from the Commission's  Headquarters in Abuja and is currently facing disciplinary action for such embarrassing misinformation.

NPC then enjoined the general public to disregard the "server hacking story" in its entirety as this does not reflect the truth in any form as "our server is solidly intact and ready to be deployed for the upcoming 2023 census.  We have implemented comprehensive security measure to safeguard our servers, applications and IT infrastructure"

"We deployed state-of- the -art technologies and industry best practices to protect our systems from potential security threats".
