The Senator-elect to represent Edo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Barr Neda Imasuen has commended President Mohammadu Buhari for his prompt signing of the Gazette conferrning the rights and authority of custody of the returned "stolen Benin Artefacts" on the Benin Monarch.
Barr Neda Imasuen said the FG's position on these artefacts is sacrosanct and an attestation to the indisputable fact of ownership of these age long works of art.
While congratulating the revered Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare 11 on this achievement, Barr Imasuen said " on behalf of the entire Benin people at home and in Diaspora whom I will be representing at the 10th assembly of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, i wish to congratulate you, Your Majesty, the entire royal family, the Benins and the entire Edo people for this feat".
Barr Neda Imasuen, a fronline Benin son, Legal practitioner and politician said "our royal father, the revered Benin Monarch, Omo N' Oba N'Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II is leading us majestically in the direction of taking the Benin kingdom back to it's global status. A position that we are all proud of."
“I specially congratulate the great Oba Ewuare II on this affirmation by the Federal Government as the rightful custodian of treasured returned Benin works of art looted by the British invaders during the Benin Massacre of 1897”.
With this National Gazette, “The Federal government has done the needful by affirming your inherent custodianship of the ancient heritage. The retuned items were looted mostly from the palace of your ancestors and the federal government affirmation is an official attestation to an established and indisputable fact of history.
"I wish to then congratulate our royal Majesty, the Oba of Benin and pray for Gods guidance and protection over your household, the Kingdom, Edo State and Nigeria. Even as I also pray that in your time and reign, Edoland will experience unprecedented peace, growth and development.
The Federal Government has, in its March 28th, 2023 National Gazette, said the Oba of Benin Kingdom is the rightful custodian of the returned looted Benin Artefacts.
