The management of the National Population Commission, NPC, headed by its Chairman, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra has secured yet another positive vibes in their quest for multinational support towards the conduct of the 2023 Census.
The latest been the support nod gotten from the Korean government, as disclosed by the Korean ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Kim Young-Chae, when he received the management team of NPC at the
Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Abuja.
Addressing the NPC team, His Excellency, Kim Young-Chae, said Nigeria could not have needed adequate statistics for policy formulations than now, considering the fact that the current data in use Nigeria might not be too accurate, thus the need for an update.
Ambassador Kim Young-Chae then assured NPC of the support of his home government, Republic of Korea, towards a successful conduct of the 2023 Census in Nigeria.
Speaking earlier, Chairman, National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra accompanied by the Director General, NPC, Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun and other management staff of the Commission told the South Korean Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Kim Young-Chae that the commission and Nigeria is set to conduct one of the best census in the history of Nigeria.
"We want to enjoin you, your country, and other multinationals to join us, as well as support us in the conduct of the 2023 census. We have completed all the required pre-census programmes as we await the conduct of the census.
The 2023 census, promises to be the most technical, digital and accurate census to be conducted in Nigeria, the outcome of which will help the nation to formulate policies that is statistically based.
The visit to South Korean embassy was to seek partnership and support of the Korean government in areas of population management, civil registration and vital statistics, capacity building for the 2023 Population and Housing Census.
