Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, over the weekend, bagged three major Technology Awards at the just concluded 9th Series, 2023 Nigeria Technology Awards (NITA), held in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The Awards saw the University coming tops in the following three categories: 1) Best Use of Social Media State University, 2) Excellence in Technology Deployment State University, and 3) State University Website/Portal of the Year (www.aauekpoma.edu.ng).
The Awards ranked Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma as one of the best and highly rated state Universities in Nigeria in consideration of its transformation in the area of digital technology.
In his welcome address, the Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Technology Awards, NITA, said: "The awards ceremony is our modest contribution to encourage technological development at an indigenous level in Nigeria and among our various educational institutions.”
Professor Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, the University’s Acting Vice Chancellor, who was represented at the ceremony by Mrs. Abiola Laseinde, a member of the University’s Law Class of 1999, said: "We are so elated that the modest effort of the University in driving technological development in Nigeria is being recognised. We’re promising that this award will spur us at the University to greater heights in technological development.”
In a statement, Otunba Mike Aladenika, the University's Corporate Communication and Protocol, said: "We’re excited that own dear Ambrose Alli University carted home awards in the three frontline categories. The University Management is highly elated with the awards coming at this period in the history of the University. It gladdens our hearts to note that the humble and genuine actions and plans we are putting in place towards making the institution the best among the comity of Universities is yielding results and not being unnoticed by prominent Nigerians, Institutions, Corporate Bodies and other relevant stakeholders.”
In a post-award comment, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, said: "Our dear University, with these awards, will be motivated to achieve greater heights in technological development and explore all avenues to sustain our leadership in the technology sector.”
Speaking after the awards ceremony, the Worldwide President, Ambrose Alli University Alumni Association, Dr Clifford Omozeghian, congratulated Prof. Adagbonyin and his Management team for accomplishing the feat.
Dr. Omozeghian then enjoined the Management, Staff and Students to keep doing that which will make the University continue to excel.
