Ujuanbi, Onofua Make AAU Governing Council Membership

Prof. Omi Ujuanbi and Comrade  Tom Onofua have secured the  membership of the Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma to represent the Convocation and Congregation, following their elections in a keenly contested process on Monday.

While Prof Omi Ujuanbi  contested against Prof G.U.Agbeboh for a slot to represent members of the Convocation, Comrade Tom Onofua contested against Mr H.I Aigbirior for the single Congregation slot at the Council. 

Declaring the election process open, the Acting Vice Chancellor,  Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Professor Sunday Olowo Samuel said "Following  the reconstitution  of a New Governing Council,  the seats for the Convocation /Congregation representatives at the Council  became vacant and there is a need to conduct election to fill these existing vacant positions.


"This election goes beyond marking of papers. Our votes have the powers to determine the outcome of the election of persons  who will represent our values and interests as well as help to create  the desired changes we want in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma
No fewer than 520 delegates were accredited to vote at the Convocation  election while the Congregation has about 480 delegates. 

At the end of the keenly contested election, Prof. Omi Ujuanbi scored 390 votes to defeat Prof.G.U.Agbeboh who garnered 115votes to win the Convocation seat while Comrade Tom Onofua got 431 votes to defeat Mr. H.I.Aigbirior who scored 37 votes.

At the end of the election exercise,  both Prof Ujuanbi and Comrade Tom Onofua promised to be worthy representatives at the Council.
