The inauguration of Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo as Edo State Governor on November 12, 2024, sparked celebrations at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma. The university's management, staff, and students marked the occasion with festivities at two locations.
A team led by a senior professor and top Non-Teaching staff attended the inauguration ceremony in Benin City, while another group organized a carnival-like celebration at the university's front gate. The spokespersons for both teams expressed similar sentiments, with banners displaying messages that reflected their journey from difficult times.
In recent years, AAU Ekpoma has faced numerous challenges, including hardship, dilapidation, and frustration. The past government's policies, particularly the S.I.T. policy, had a devastating impact on the university. However, with the new administration, the university community is optimistic about a brighter future.

Dr. Omo-Ehijele Frank Odafen, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, urged the university community to redouble their efforts and work towards a better future. He emphasized that the new governor is committed to reviving the university.
"The governor's commitment to bringing the university back to life is not in doubt," Dr. Odafen said. "We must rededicate ourselves to our roles and assure the governor of our support to ensure better days ahead."
With the inauguration of Governor Okpebholo, AAU Ekpoma is poised for a new era of growth and development.
