The Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma community erupted in jubilation as the news of the university's latest national award spread. The Nigerian Academic Excellence Award recognized AAU Ekpoma as the Most Exceptional State University of the Year, while its Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday Olowo Samuel, was honored as the Most Exceptional Vice-Chancellor of the Year for State Universities.
The award organizers considered AAU Ekpoma alongside other state universities. Their findings revealed that AAU Ekpoma's growth, development, and managerial capabilities to provide creative and conducive learning environments amidst national challenges were unmatched by its contemporaries.
While presenting the award, the organizers praised AAU Ekpoma, stating, "Having studied AAUE, in comparison with its contemporaries, our findings show a determined people set to be the best, irrespective of challenges faced."
In his acceptance speech, Professor Sunday Olowo Samuel thanked the organizers for their diligence in the selection process. "I am here today to receive these awards on behalf of the entire past and present management, staff, and students of our great university, whose personal and collective contributions have taken us to the level of recognition."
Professor Samuel also acknowledged the efforts of past managements, the teaching and non-teaching staff, Unions, Stakeholders, and Students. "This award is particularly unique because it came at a time when it was most needed. It gladdens my heart to know that our little efforts in repositioning Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma are being recognized and appreciated."
The Acting Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Edo State and Visitor to AAU Ekpoma, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo, for creating an enabling environment for the university to fulfill its mission and vision. "The university's management under my watch will continue to pursue the dreams of our founding father, Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli."
On behalf of the Senate, management, staff, and students of AAU Ekpoma, Professor Samuel appreciated the Nigerian Academic Excellence Awards (NAEA) for the recognition.
