The management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has addressed recent media reports concerning purported delayed induction of its Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) students.
According to Otunba Mike Ade Aladenika, Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol, "we had some delay in indexing of our students that was unintentional and beyond our immediate control, but we are working to remedy the situation."
Aladenika explained during a Zoom media chat that "an error occurred in our admission process, which exceeded the approved quota set by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)." He acknowledged that the council had sanctioned the institution for this anomaly.
However, Aladenika assured that the University is collaborating with the MLSCN to correct the error and address its consequences. "We are implementing the council's remedial directives, which will lead to the indexing of all our admitted students. He reported further that the University do not have uninducted Medical Laboratory Science graduands as eronously reported by Iyobo Lawal on the Guardian of the 7th of January 2025, nothing that "our students are not in any limbo over induction". Our last batch of qualified Medical Laboratory Scientists were inducted by the MLSCN on Friday July 26th 2024.
He urged reporters to cross check their facts before rushing to press.
Aladenika apologized for the inconvenience caused and appreciated the MLSCN's support in correcting the errors. He reassured the students that the issue is almost resolved.
