The Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has been selected to benefit from the Edo State Government's newly initiated Rural Water and Electrification projects. This development was disclosed by the State's Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources, Barrister Washington Osa Osifo, during a courtesy visit to the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Sunday Olowo Samuel, and the Management team in Ekpoma.
According to Barrister Osifo, "the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is committed to providing portable water supply and lighting up cities, urban towns, villages, and communities. To achieve this, the Commissioner and the Ministry have been directed to conduct an assessment tour of the State."
As an alumnus of AAU Ekpoma, Barrister Osifo announced that Engineers from his Office would be sent to analyze the University's water and energy needs. This assessment aims to give the Institution a priority position in the project.
In his response, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Sunday Olowo Samuel, thanked the Commissioner for the visit, emphasizing that the University's Management, Staff, and Students appreciate the Governor's attention to the school.
"Please, extend our gratitude to Mr. Governor for his unwavering support and attention to Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma," Professor Samuel said. "Since his election, he has consistently demonstrated his commitment to our Institution. The Governor is systematically addressing our needs, thereby fulfilling his campaign promises."
The fact-finding team has departed for Benin, promising to send a team of Engineers and Technicians to gather technical details. This will enable the State Government to revive the University's water dam scheme, among other projects.
