Following the inauguration of the reconstituted Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, headed by Chief Dan Osi Orbih, the council directed the election of internal members to enable it to function maximally.

The internal members of the Governing Council, as stipulated by law, comprise representatives from the Senate, Convocation, and Congregation, among others. Specifically, the Senate elects three members, with the Provost of the College as an additional representative, while Convocation and Congregation each have one representative. In total, there are ten internal members, consisting of four statutory and six electable members sourced from the Senate, Convocation, and Congregation.
According to Otunba Mike Aladenika, Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Information and Public Relations at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, "The election into the three electable seats of the Senate Representatives was conducted on Wednesday, with Prof. Razak Momoh, Prof. V.U. Okojie, and Prof. Osagie Ighodalo emerging as winners. For the Convocation and Congregational Representatives, Comrade Tom Onofua was returned unopposed as the Congregational representative, while Prof. Lewis Igbafen won the Convocation representative seat after competing with Prof. Omi Ujuanbi, securing 195 votes to 134."
While presiding over the Convocation and Congregation meeting ahead of the election, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, stated, "We have the mandate of the Pro-Chancellor and the Governing Council to conduct a free, fair, and credible election, and that is our objective."
In their respective acceptance speeches after the election, Prof. Lewis Igbafen expressed his gratitude, saying, "I sincerely thank the entire staff, especially members of Convocation, for their unwavering confidence in me to represent and defend their interests in the Governing Council of our dear University. I assure you that the struggle for our welfare, due process, rule of law, and university autonomy will be of fundamental interest and a centerpiece of my agitation in the Council."
Comrade Tom Onofua also shared his thoughts, stating, "It is a rare privilege and opportunity to demonstrate my unflinching loyalty to serve our collective interests at the highest level of university governance. I have no doubt that there's much to be done to restore the university's lost glory to its rightful place. Although the election has come and gone, the process of restoring peace is here for all of us to embrace. I urge the winners of various positions to be magnanimous in victory. To me, there's no victor or vanquished. Let us come together to forge a way forward in repositioning the university to its desired enviable height."
