The Management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has responded to reports circulating about the scheduled induction of 128 medical students by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) for February 13, 2025. The reports also alleged oppression of 39 students whose induction was slated for July 2025.
According to Otunba Mike Ade Aladenika, Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Information/Public Relations and Protocol, "the claims being propagated by some students of July 2025 induction date are false and misleading."
Otunba Aladenika explained, "Let's set the record straight. Out of 168 medical students who took their final examinations in August 2024, 128 passed, and 40 failed. A resit examination was conducted for the 40 students who failed, and 39 passed, while one student was advised to repeat."
He added, "Due to ongoing issues with the MDCN regarding our quota, which resulted in severe sanctions, the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, intervened. The Council subsequently approved the induction of the first 128 students who passed their final examinations, scheduled for February 13, 2025. The Council also approved July 2025 for the induction of the 39 students who passed their resit examinations."
The University's Public Relations officer questioned why the 39 students who failed their final examinations expected to be inducted with those who passed. "Where is our collective sense of decency? Instead of showing gratitude for the July induction date, these 39 students spread unguided half-truths."
"I am therefore using this medium to inform the general public that the agitation of these concerned 39 'July 2025 batch' of inductees as been propagated in the media is false. I will also want to advise them to accept and get ready for their induction in July as they lost the opportunity to go along with the 128 when they failed their final examinations.
