The Edo State government has partnered with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) to provide seamless educational support to students in the state's tertiary institutions. According to the State's Commissioner for Education, Dr. Paddy Emmanuel Iyamu, this initiative is part of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo's commitment to ensuring that every Edo child has access to quality education, regardless of their background.
In his welcome address, Ambrose Alli University's Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, represented by Prof. (Mrs.) Omoregie Eunice, assured students that the NELFUND partnership with Edo State would cover tuition fees for indigent students throughout their chosen course. He encouraged AAU students to seize this opportunity to secure seamless training.
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) team, led by Managing Director and CEO Akintunde Sawyer, represented by Director of Loan Allocation and Distribution Mrs. Lami Suwaidi, guided students through the fundamentals of the loan program, including access, activation, and repayment processes.
Notably, the NELFUND team revealed that Edo State and the South-South region of Nigeria have yet to fully utilize the loan scheme to support their youth. To address this, students were encouraged to explore the online application process via the NELFUND portal.
