Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma's Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, has expressed optimism about the university's future, citing its current trajectory as a positive sign of progress. Speaking to journalists in Ekpoma, Prof. Samuel said, "Our dear University, AAU, is getting better with each passing day. We are moving from grace to greater grace."
He acknowledged the institution's past challenges, including admission and graduation issues, as well as the non-implementation of the minimum wage for workers. However, he noted that things are improving with the support of the state governor,  Senator Monday Okpebholo, who is committed to helping the university excel.
Prof. Samuel praised the current Governing Council, led by Chairman and Pro-Chancellor Chief Dan Osi Orbih, for their determination to steer the university towards excellence.
Since the reconstituted Governing Council's inauguration, it has made significant decisions positively impacting staff and students. According to Professor Sunday Olowo Samuel, challenges faced by medical and nursing students have been addressed, with inductions concluded.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is inducting over 800 graduate nurses, with over 600 already inducted in three batches. The remaining batch of over 200 will be inducted soon.
Regarding JAMB regularization issues affecting some graduates, negotiations are underway to resolve the problem.
Professor Samuel assured parents and stakeholders that the university is on the path to recovery, stating, "We are more determined than before to see this University grow into a competitive institution nationally and internationally."
