The Bank of Industry (BOI) and Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma are exploring a potential partnership to drive infrastructural development on campus. This development emerged during a meeting between AAU's Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, and Pacqueens E. Irabor, Divisional Head, MSME, South-South, BOI, in Ekpoma, Edo State.
Irabor briefed the Acting Vice-Chancellor on BOI's existing facilities that could support the university's growth, stating, "BOI has collaborated with various universities - federal, state, and private - to enhance their infrastructure, build training centers, and study facilities.
The BOI official further explained to the Acting Vice-Chancellor that beyond institutional collaborations, individual staff members with credible jobs can also benefit from the bank's facilities.
"We offer a facility that supports alternative power supply for individual offices and homes, enabling easy purchase and repayment while ensuring comfort in both work and personal spaces," Irabor said.
According to the BIO official, "This facility can boost productivity by increasing productive hours at minimal cost, thereby benefiting both staff and the university."
In response, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel expressed gratitude to the BOI official for the interest in supporting the university's growth. "Our goal is to elevate Ambrose Alli University to international standards, which is why we're seeking partnerships with relevant agencies like the Bank of Industry," he said.
Prof. Samuel outlined the university's plans, stating, "We're conceptualizing a skill acquisition and entrepreneurship center where students will be encouraged to acquire skills beyond their regular coursework. This initiative aims to make our graduates experts and professionals in specific arts and crafts, ultimately contributing to the revival of Nigeria's dwindling middle class."
The meeting between the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma and the Bank of Industry official marks a significant step towards realizing the university's vision of growth and development. With potential partnerships on the horizon, the university is poised to leverage BOI's expertise and resources to enhance its infrastructure, promote entrepreneurship, and empower its students. This collaboration could have a lasting impact on the institution and the community, contributing to the nation's economic and social development.
