Edo Government Boosts AAUE College of Medicine with New Infrastructure Projects

Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, has received a significant boost in its quest for academic excellence and infrastructural development, as the Edo State Government commenced the construction of new structural projects for the institution’s College of Medicine. 
The development marks a major milestone in the university’s ongoing transformation efforts aimed at strengthening its medical education and training capacity.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the projects was performed by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Chief Dan Osi Orbih, who described the initiative as timely and strategic. 

He noted that the intervention by the state government reflects a deep commitment to repositioning the university for global competitiveness, particularly in the critical field of medical sciences.
Chief Orbih expressed profound appreciation to the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for prioritizing the growth and development of the university. 

He commended the administration’s proactive approach to addressing infrastructural deficits, emphasizing that the projects would significantly enhance both teaching and learning outcomes within the College of Medicine.
In her remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mrs. Eunice Omozejie, described the development as a turning point for Ambrose Alli University.
 She stated that the institution has entered a new phase of growth, driven by deliberate investments in infrastructure and academic excellence. According to her, the projects will not only improve the learning environment but also boost the university’s capacity to train highly skilled medical professionals.
Professor Omozejie also extended heartfelt gratitude to the state governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo for his unwavering support and commitment to the university’s progress. She reaffirmed the institution’s resolve to justify the confidence reposed in it by ensuring that the facilities are effectively utilized for the advancement of medical education and research.

The projects, as outlined, include the construction of three blocks of 500-capacity lecture halls, designed to accommodate the increasing number of medical students. These lecture halls are expected to provide modern learning spaces equipped to meet contemporary academic standards.
In addition, two hostels with a combined capacity of 300 bed spaces each, will be constructed to address accommodation challenges faced by medical students. The provision of these hostels is anticipated to enhance students’ welfare and create a more conducive environment for academic pursuits.
Furthermore, the state government will construct twin 300-capacity lecture theatres, which will serve as specialized venues for large academic gatherings, seminars, and advanced medical instruction.

 Stakeholders have expressed optimism that the completion of these projects will significantly elevate the status of Ambrose Alli University’s College of Medicine and reinforce its position as a leading institution in medical education in Nigeria.
