The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ekpoma Area Command, has initiated a strategic partnership with Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, aimed at strengthening the institution’s security framework.
This development followed a courtesy visit by the newly posted Area Commander, ACC Imariagbe Josephine, who led principal officers of the command to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mrs Eunice Omozejie.
During the meeting, both parties underscored the urgent need to reinforce security measures within and around the university community, especially in the face of evolving security challenges confronting tertiary institutions across the country.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the NSCDC and the university management to align on proactive strategies to safeguard lives and property on campus.
Speaking during the visit, ACC Imariagbe Josephine emphasized the Corps’ commitment to intelligence-driven operations, surveillance, and rapid response mechanisms.
She assured the university authorities of the command’s readiness to deploy its operational capacity and personnel toward ensuring a safe and conducive academic environment for staff, students, and visitors.
In her response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mrs Eunice Omozejie, welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely and necessary. She reiterated the university’s commitment to fostering a secure campus environment and expressed confidence that the collaboration would significantly enhance the institution’s existing security structure. She also called for sustained engagement and information sharing between both institutions.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to develop a comprehensive security architecture that would incorporate joint patrols, intelligence sharing, and community-based security approaches.
Stakeholders expressed optimism that the partnership would not only deter criminal activities but also promote peace and stability within the university and its host community.
