The leadership of the Edo State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the expulsion of its State Publicity Secretary, Bob Manuel Umoru, following the adoption of the recommendations of a disciplinary committee constituted to investigate allegations brought against him by party organs in Etsako Central.

According to an internal memo dated June 28, 2026, and signed by the State Secretary, Hillary Otsu, the decision was reached after an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee held on June 27, 2026.

The memo stated that the committee was inaugurated to investigate and act on resolutions forwarded by the PDP executives of Ward 6 and the Etsako Central Local Government Area, following complaints against Umoru.

The State Working Committee subsequently adopted the committee's report, which reportedly recommended Umoru's expulsion from the party and his immediate removal from office as the State Publicity Secretary.

Following the decision, the party directed Umoru to immediately cease issuing statements or presenting himself as the Edo State PDP Publicity Secretary. He was also instructed to hand over all party properties and materials in his possession to the state secretariat and to refrain from attending functions or activities organized by the party.

The memo stated that the action was taken pursuant to the provisions of Section 10:57 (2) and (3) of the 2017 Constitution of the People's Democratic Party.

The development is expected to deepen the internal political contest within the Edo PDP, which has in recent months witnessed disagreements among some party stakeholders over leadership, organization, and the direction of the party following recent political developments in the state.

As of the time of filing this report, Umoru had not publicly responded to the expulsion or indicated whether he would challenge the decision through the party's internal appeal mechanisms or in court.
